Elvis Perkins’ (In Dearland) new album has leaked onto the web. He’s also touring now and is actually visiting my home town, so I’m pretty excited to see him and his band again. I had never heard of him until he was on the bill for a Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! show that I saw in Dallas. I got his first album before that show and have been a fan since.
The song I’m posting above is called “Shampoo” - he’s been playing it live for several years now and the best you could find before he added it to the new album was terrible live rips done by audience members.
Unfortunately, “The Weeping Pilgrim” isn’t on this album either. But, if you can find a live recording of it, I really enjoyed that song. I’ve only listened to the songs I’m familiar with so far on this album and they don’t quite have the same enthusiasm as the live versions, then again, what album versions do?
